Prevention
At The Gap we believe that preventing violence is just as important as supporting survivors
We work to prevent violence by utilising the award winning and evidence based Violence Is Preventable (V.I.P) programme
The V.I.P programme uses a range of books, DVDs, quizzes, games and worksheets to increase the safety of vulnerable people and enable earlier intervention where abuse or violence is ongoing. find out more by visiting www.violenceispreventable.org.uk

Primary PreventionPrimary prevention is achieved by increasing the participants personal safety knowledge and skills so that they can keep themselves safe from abuse
|
Secondary PreventionSecondary prevention in this context is achieved by enabling the participants to disclose abuse. This allows for intervention so that the abuse can be stopped
|
Tertiary PreventionTertiary prevention is achieved by enabling the participants to pass on the lessons they have learned to other vulnerable people
We also aim to indirectly change the mindset of any potential future abuser taking part |
