Sexual abuse can happen to anyone at any age. There is a common perception that it is rare or unheard of for men to be sexually abused but we know that this is not true. It is estimated that 1 in 6 men in the UK have experienced sexual abuse but the true number is possibly much higher even than that

Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse  has long been seen as an issue for women that does not affect men

Current statistics however show that this is not the case - in Scotland 1 in every 5 calls to the police about domestic abuse features a male victim and a female perpetrator. As with sexual abuse the true figure is likely to be much higher

Domestic abuse can affect men differently from women due to public perceptions and stereotypical viewpoints around masculinity. There is also very little support available for men who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse but we hope to change that
